As of today, October 12th, I am Network+ Certified

The test was not easy. CompTIA exams like to word things like “what is MOST likely”, meaning that there can be more than one correct option. you just have to choose the MOST correct. My exam consisted of 5 perfomance questions and 65 multiple choice, it took me all 90 minutes to complete the test. I did not have enough time to review all my answers.

My advice:

Study, obviously. I’ll list the materials I used below. Make sure you memorize the little things, WiFi bands especially are important, knowing the specifics of 802.11a, b, g, n, ac, ax. Port numbers for things like SSH, FTP, Telnet, SMB, all reared their heads for me, so remember those. You can always email me if you have any questions.

Study material I recommend:

  • Professor Messer training videos, and study notes. The notes especially are good for the parts you need to memorize. Link to his youtube channel
  • Jason Dion practice exams. Find out which topics you don’t understand, don’t bother memorizing the questions of course. I only used two of them. Udemy Link
  • ChatGPT. Seriously. AI is the future, use it! I used it to clarify concepts, ask questions for finding the network address and broadcast address, and to quiz me on port numbers and other topics.

Takeaways…

Overall, even if it was hard, I do think it was fair. This was the penultimate exam for my degree, stay tuned for the Security+ exam!
